Is this not where children grow and learn? Where we can teach them politeness, manners,respect,compassion,..self esteem, and nonconformity?
I fail to see the problem.

There was a young lady who was complaining about the crappy day she had on her first day of school as she got off the bus.. She mentioned all the cliques of popular people and gangs..no friends in her class. And their pressures.. I mentioned to her, there is no need to sell yourself short to become one of 'them'... You have the choice to be yourself.. to not fall into the line of conformity. Look at..Madonna, she created her own style that everyone wanted to follow..

Besides, its not their money that bought those clothes or that attitude.. its their parents! I praised her for her always thinking through those numbheads and using her brains! My own daughter is always clever with dressing herself with accessories of every tidbit.. that she is a fashion to herself I feel sorry for the ones who...live life for brands. Its truely sad. They have no mind of their own. And they waste their money. Clones of clones..

Hell, arent the 'fashions' cloning from the past? THEY dont have any creativity EITHER!!!!

But, its good to bring it out to the public so us dopey parents are aware of their pressures of daily teen life.

btw.. my sister in law is the queen of brands seeker.. and she lives on minimum wage... you dont HAVE to have money to get them.. just seek the right garage sales are they trying to attack people of lesser? who need us the most? i know my sis in law.. shes just tryin to help her boy fit in.. i dont agree with it.. but i know she is not on the dole.. and... she struggles.. and she gets her brands for dirt cheap.

A good reason for insisting on School uniform.

After School, it is up to parents to get rid of this culture of judging people on the label on their jeans, but as parents mostly live that life too, the only possible thing to rid us of this existence is the current possibility of a recession.

I always hold dear to my heart this saying that was on my friend's piano..(probably mentioned before..)
'Dont pave the world for the child, rather pave the child for the world.'

I saw a social type class where they sat the kids out in small groups and discussed these issues, hashed out the feelings and uglies, and grew from the outcome. I feel its a learning field and they are in there to learn. Would we rather set them out into the world without this valuable lesson and spread the hate/ignorance further? The majority of us cannot afford to buy uniforms to sugar coat the world.

For me, I'd rather my child learn young than be a superficial a''hole later...

A good ole fashion-let the punishment fit the crime for bullies would be nice... if they want to be greater than thou with 'fancy' clothes.. they can help in the community service and do the time with thrifts/soup kitchens/shelters... and learn about the real world. My school made that a requirement and im glad they did. I learned quite a bit and my world opened up. We keep our kids too boxed in at times. I also worked with the disabed/mentally ill and a whole new world flourished for me.
