On my way home from holiday one of the films I watched was Mama's Boy. Despite the esteemed cast, it was pretty dire. Great soundtrack though - The Jam, Generation X, Billy Bragg, Morrissey and the Proclaimers

Not a lot to share Scunnert! The last film we went to see was the Last King of Scotland over a year ago. Since then there hasn't been anything on at our local cinema (Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy) that both of us want to see.

What did you think of The Last King of Scotland, Brenna? I thought it was a pretty good film and that Forest Whitaker was scarily convincing as Idi Amin. Can't say I'm too fussed on James McAvoy, though, but he has been tipped to play the part of Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit, so I may change my mind about him!

Hello Tibbie, I thought the whole film was very well thought out and presented even if some of the events in it were fictionalised. I agree about Forest Whitaker - he was brilliant in that role and deserved the Oscar he was awarded.

James McAvoy's role didn't seem to be very well written and his character wasn't (in my opinion) "rounded" at all. Whether that was a deliberate ploy to exaggerate his role's naivety was unclear but, as an actor, he is capable of better with a different scriptwriter I think!

Having seen James McAvoy as Mr Tumnus in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe I think he will be brilliant as Bilbo Baggins. He brought an pathos to that role which was heart rending - as Tumnus was in C.S. Lewis's book.
