Sounds like dws might be the right man for the job if you are going to try to trace the family's whereabouts jeenyalogically (close enough). If you need a hand with any sifting or anything dws - give me a shout.Meantime, Jacobsmom if you have any other utd info on Grant Taylor you can give me there are some other places I could try if you wish. I'm still looking at the 1881 census for the old fella - no luck so far.

OOps posted too quick! James D. listed here could be the Grandson of Old James and Elizabeth Moir? Bit of work needed I think.
I'll see what else I can find.
Cheers Stu

This could be them, except the age I believe is a bit off on James'. And he doesn't have a middle name with a D. His middle names are Muirhead and Rhind. But knowing alittle abit about the times back then, it's possible for these slight mistakes to have been made.
TLR Taylor would be I believe the eldest boy, Thomas Laird Rhind Taylor.
And the elder Elizabeth would be Grandmother to the younger Elizabeth I believe.
It's great that you found this so quickly.
I think I'm in good hands.
Thank you,
Stephanie

There were only 159 "Grant Taylor" s "born" in Scotland between 1850 and 2006. Not a very common name so there might be good chance of finding his marriage details etc and find a location for him. Can you give me any idea of this gentleman's age? (Or any other details)Please feel free to PM if you prefer.

Ah, the wonderful state of the country music capital. I'm a transplant, so I tell everyone I reside there. My heart is in PA. And yourself?

Not quite sure how to post what I wish, but here it goes. I am from America, married, two grown children who have moved along. We have two horses and a mini donkey and three cats to keep us company.
I am researching our Scottish side of the family. We know very little about them and had lost touch with them over 50 years ago. Our mother is 80 now with health issues and my goal is to find at least one living relly for her, so she knows the line continues.
I have been to usual sites but have yet to find that relative.
Well that's my story.....so hello.
Are you JC on another board?

Been to Florida, liked it alot. Never been to Miami though.
What other cities to you like? I absolutely love New Orleans, been several times and itching to go back. Do you have Scottish relatives? Been searching for mine for over a year now. Just recently discovered a box that was kept in a cubby hole in our little home back in PA. My mom let me bring it here with me at Christmas and have intensely trying to find a living relly for her.
