An answer issued in the name of Enterprise Minister Jim Mather to a written question submitted by Annabel Goldie simply stated: "Blah." Good old Annie issued a response of "D'oh".

The gaffe was put down to an administrative error and only occurred in the version sent to journalists.

It's always good fun when our politicians behave like humans! I wonder whether the "blah" refers to the minister's opinion of the question - or was it perhaps an instruction to one of his minions on the quality of reply they were to draft for his approval?

This reminds me of the apocryphal occasion when (I think) Churchill came across a memo one day in his intray. In the margin one of his civil servants had pencilled the remark: 'Round objects'. Before sending the memo back, Churchill wrote:'Who is Mr Round, and to what does he object?'
