I find it strange that the UN is taking such an interest in Burma whilst ignoring Zimbabwe. Mugabe is a mass murderer, a pervert, and a ruthless maniacal dictator who is selling what little remains of Zimbabwe to the Chinese. He is killing tens of thousands of formerly well fed people to fill the Swiss bank coffers of himself, his repulsive wife and the psychopathic baboons who run Zanu PF. This is yet another infamous footnote in the UN's library of shame.

The problem of dealing with both Burma and Zimbabwe is that they are supported by their neighbours. Mugabe has unswerving support from President Mbeki of South Africa and the other African leaders also regard him as the legitimate leader of the country. Maggie Broon's boycott of the forthcoming conference is not even supported by other European leaders. So we just have to sit and watch.

I noticed last week that Switzerland has promised to be tougher on dictators stacking up their fortunes in anonymous accounts. Pull the other one?
