To everyone on Scotsgait:

Nollaig Subhach is Bliadhna Mhath Ur dhuibh uile.
A Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you all.

May the best ye've ever seen;
Be the worst ye'll ever see,
May a moosie ne'er leave yer girnal;
Wi'a tear drap in his e'e,
May ye aye keep hale and he'rty;
Till ye're auld enough tae dee,
May ye aye be juist as happy;
As I wish ye aye tae be.

From Niall, Wishing you good health and prosperity in 2008.

Same to you Niall!

Out of curiosity, the only Gaelic translation I have found for Merry Christmas is Nollaig Chridheil... are both correct or does the translation I have mean something else?

Nollaig means Christmas which coms from the latin Noel. Subhach means merry. Cridheil means hearty, kindly as well as merry. The different words are used in different Gaidhlig speaking areas. In Skye we always used Nollaig Subhach.

I'd like to add my sincere best wishes to all the folk here. May you have a happy and peaceful time.

And to TLJ for bringing this here...we go back a wee while pal, and whilst I've argued with you on some points, I appreciate all you've done!
