Seve Ballesteros has been diagnosed with a brain tumour and will undergo a biopsy on Tuesday.

He's only 51. I lost a pal just a couple of weeks ago to a brain tumour - he was only 49.

It makes you think....

I find it very sad that he is this ill. He has been such a wonderful example of sportsmanship and fair play throughout his career and I hope it is good news after the biopsy.

Brain tumour will do it for you almost every time. My cousin died of one after all the ops and radiotherapy... still had him in 6 months. And he had just turned 40.
They're not easy to diagnose, and usually by the time you're having symptoms it's verging on too late.....

Sad. I like Seve, thought he was nice person as well as a fine golfer.

I also want to wish Seve well. I'm so sorry for anyone's loss so my condolences to both TLJ and Weegible.
On a more positive note, I know someone diagnosed with a brain tumour and given a 30% survival chance. 11 years later and he's still here. Let's hope Seve is as lucky.

Let's hope the results of the biopsy are also good.
Seve Ballesteros underwent 12 hours of surgery yesterday to remove a brain tumour and is currently "stable" in the intensive care unit of a Madrid hospital. thescotsman.scotsman.com/sport/Seve-39st...r-surgery.4595314.jp
The operation passed without any complications, according to the La Paz hospital.

It doesn't look like good news - he's having a third operation to further to relieve pressure on his brain caused by an oedema and bleeding and the tumour is said to be affecting nerve cells and the spinal cord - making it difficult for surgeons to reach.

It's something you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy, and it's all the more heart-breaking when the victim seems to be a thoroughly likeable, decent kind of bloke.

It's serious but not necessarily terminal. He's fit so stands a good chance of recovery.
