I remember the upgrade to Edinburgh's tram system after the 1939/45 war. New rails were laid during the night using acetylene flares to light the scene. The noise in laying the rails was
loud in the extreme. Cobbles were then laid with boiling pitch cooking (gassing us), and then poured between them.
Sleep deprivation was another feature, and another was the many cars that found themselves stranded in the space destined for the cobbles. Fumes were blamed for the stranding, alcohol was never mentioned.
How is it going to cut down traffic woodsysdad, the love affair with the car is the problem, not trams.
Enjoy the upheaval.
