I don't know if its just me that's experiencing this problem, but I find that when I am trying to access this forum or the chatroom its extremely slow at loading. Once you're actually in the site the response times are better, but still not great! Now I know I don't have the fastest broadband access available to me, but I don't see the point of paying another £12 a month to go from 4M to 20M just to get in to here faster... maybe there's a bit of tweaking can be done here first!

I was never on freetalkscotland so can't comment on how bad that one was. However, compared to other forums I am a member of this one is definitely the slowest. Maybe it is just me that's experiencing this problem though... or maybe everyone who was on fts are just happy that is forum is available most of the time!

I have used Linux, XP Home and XP Pro systems to look in on Scotsgait, and none have experienced any problems loading, or using the various facilities.
Can't think of a reason for your problem Bruce.

Maybe I'm being a little unfair... it the problem is only really on the first time I access the site during the day, once I'm in its fast enough!

I have a bandwidth of 20mbs and an ethernet cable capable of 100mbs for my tv via a decoder. I do find that load times are slow on here sometimes but maybe thats due to my multi media modem and decoder usage?

I've actually noticed quite a difference myself over the last 24 hours or so.

I'll get in touch with the hosts and see if there's any reason for that.

PS my speed is about 4Mb....

This site is very, very slow for me too. Even just navigating around 'The Gaithering' can be quite a long wait. I still get what I call the colour pinwheel of death on my iMac while waiting for things to come up, something I thought was just the province of Itchy Nut Exploder that's native to this computer. I keep it in use for a few functions but went over to Opera not long before Scotsgait began. (Mainly that was to facilitate Facebook, but that's way beyond me so I rarely go there at all.) Very often with Scotsgait, I have to 'force quit' Opera and re-start it, just to expedite getting the 'pinwheel' biz to stop.

I've made a minor modification to the settings - it may be psychological, but I think it's made a big difference. Let me knwo what you think !
