In the wee small hours of this morning a little boy was born, so quickly that we do not even have a name for him yet.

He weighs only one pound. I have never seen a child that size and still alive. He is smaller than my hand. We have been told that we should just expect what happens hour by hour. He does have some fight in him as he was trying to kick his way out of the little bag which looks extremely like a freezer bag to me. His little incubator is full of steam so the nurse needs to clear a wee space when we want to see him.

He is wearing the tiniest little blue hat.

I really do believe in the power of prayer or what ever each person wants to call it.

All I know is he needs as much of this as possible, prayers good wishes or whatever. If we are a community which it strikes me we are, and should be, then give it all you have for him.

Scunnert I don't know what to say that is really lovely

This morning he is still being given some blood that started yesterday because he is not clotting properly he gets this at less that a five ml teaspoon every hour ( mind boggling when you think of it )

He is under a lamp because he is jaundiced.

He is driving them all mad because he keeps kicking his way out of this little plastic bag thing that is meant to mimic the womb. He has peed on his nurse. The very tiniest nappy fits into the inside, that is what he lies on.

I just keep telling him to carry on.

He is perfect apart from his wee face that looks suspiciously like a wee grandad of at least a hundred and ten. I know it is often the way with tiny babies but his feet look huge, a good grip of Scotland.

The prayers are working so far folks.



Every day a bonus

What a precious child! And it sounds that he is a trooper! If they get frustrated with his actions.. remind them how they would feel poked and prodded in a plastic bag.... and then.. remind them.. inside the womb.. babies do acrobats and tumbling..jogging and punching.. and... seems to me.. he is being a BOY!!!(i have a toddler who probably would do the exact same thing... ) How precious... the angels that God sends our way. The souls that touch us and shape us and make us who we are. Thank you for sharing with us your little friend/family member.. Some of dont always get to see this side of the world...and the window is mightie grand!!

I'll keep him in my prayers and share with others. Im thankful that good people are fighting FOR his life vs. the ones who are ready to end babies lives in the same breath. Tell them how honorable they are for me. And if you can... touch him for me.. and give him a boost of love from across the pond. My heart goes out to the little fighstie guy! What a treasure he is. He sounds mightie healthy!!!

All the very best for this little one. So young but already touched so many lives.

You are such a mum Jaimekins thank you, every time I see him I tell him about all the people who are praying for him and sending all this love so I will. We are not allowed to touch him yet. He does have a tiny wee Rosary in his cot with him that is all he has in with him so all we can do is pray really.

The staff in the unit are amazing they talk to him all the time in just the way that we do. His mum and dad and I just want to be with him all the time but they are so busy doing all the wee things that he needs that we sometimes feel in the way because they have so much to do. Not that they make you feel that way, they are lovely. I do feel at the moment he is living on computers so much is attached to him. Everyone is actually very proud of the way he is kicking all the time they seem to see it as a positive thing but he does give them a lot of extra work as he pulls out all these tubes and things regularly.

The relationship is hard to explain his mum was brought up in care and she adopted me as a mum in her late teens. I would marmalize anyone who tried to tell me these children are not my Grandchildren. I don't feel any less for them than I do for my own. Each one of them very special and precious.

My good wishes and hopes for this wee mite, and that he continues to prosper. With Lydia and all who are concerned with this child, and who look after him, I feel he has the best of starts now, and in the future.

Thank you Meg, you are right, he has touched many lives, he has so many people praying for him. Tonight we have been told he is completely off the ventilator. Although that sounds so good every nurse and doctor tells us that we should not get to exited about this as things can change so quickly with these little ones.

We are told simply take what happens hour by hour.

Not too good a night he is back on his ventilator but that is to be expected. Otherwise no change.
