Is this a broad hint that the Tory party is no longer interested in their MSPs in Scotland and by extension a total lack of interest in Scotland?

I have. that TOTALLY happened here.
Fort wayne southtown mall. Walfart jumped in and was the 'hero'.

im just totally uncomfortable about giving these LARGESS companies so much freedom, power and control. to expand to the extremeties.. did we NOT just have a largess problem with the banks???????!!! (mega companies)
yet we let them expand and go hogwild. Practically crippling areas that were long in working order. sending people with longtime skills into the dust and slapping minimum wage jobs up.. that soak up the economy's treasure funds with having to support extra help because their funds dont support their lives... and endless downhill battle that spirals the economy to crap. and.. takes the great things that aspired the people and cheapens in many levels.. sorry. sorry im not so excited about.. the lowest cut prices..

Hopefully thru it all people will remain unique and continually create and change the flow of things..and not always fall into 'conformity' allowing megas more powers to push us around. just sayin......

Let me start with the ill fated, One Laptop per Child . OLPC, has had a troubled birth, with M$ early on offering the clapped out XP elbowing out Linux, and of course the cost was too high.
Nicholas Negroponte is still active in OLPC, see:-
http://www.zdnet.com/blog/education/one-laptop-per-child-android-meet-dr-negroponte/3976
There are now several iPad competitors with prices way below Apples and should be a better bet cost wise than the iPad.

Robin's comment, Somehow it seems worlds away from the time when teachers knew how to teach using such primitive materials as blackboard and chalk.

I agree that we should not ignore traditional teaching methods however, look at the number of Scots and other giants that were produced in the past few centuries, Adam Smith, James Clerk Maxwell etc. They did not need computers, but would certainly have made use of them in furthering their work.

So my conclusion is that a mix of traditional teaching with the outreach that computers bring to education is desirable.

Well its so bloody typical that it fails to make my blood boil anymore. What really does is us lot up here in Scotland who are apparently feart to just go for the FULL Independence thingy and just watch how MI5 would react to that one if it got too serious.
No they all know the majority of Scots are tied hook line and sinker to this rotten Union. We accept it lock stock and barrel.
As for the Edinburgh parliament its people like Iain Gray , Tavish Scott, Annabel Goldie who cant see the woods for the trees.
Ok anyone says Salmons is full of his own self importance and a slob but he talks Scotland up every time and he can't be beaten. He is not the answer but a politician who just wants to do it for us. Until we learn how to wipe our own arse we will have this crap time and time again.
